Jakarta, CNBC Indonesia – The Central Java Provincial Government has finally announced the amount of the provincial minimum wage (UMP) for 2024. This is stipulated in the Decree of the Governor of Central Java Number 561/54 of 2023 dated 21 November 2023, referring to the Letter of the Minister of Manpower of the Republic of Indonesia Number BM/243/HI.01.00 /XI/2023 regarding Submission of Information on Procedures for Determining the 2024 Minimum Wage and Data on Economic and Employment Conditions for Determining the 2024 Minimum Wage.

Head of the Central Java Province Manpower and Transmigration Service, Ahmad Azis, said that the Central Java UMP for 2024 was decided to increase by 4.02% from the 2023 UMP which was IDR 1,958,169.69 to IDR 2,036,947.

“The determination of the UMP is calculated using the previous year’s minimum wage formula, plus adjustment values ​​for the elements of inflation, economic growth and alpha value,” said Azis in a statement on the official website of the Central Java provincial government, Tuesday (21/11/2023).


“The alpha value is determined from the average labor absorption rate and median wage in the last three periods of the current year,” he explained.

He added that the calculation of the 2024 UMP proposals/recommendations had gone through a plenary meeting of the Provincial Wage Council consisting of government elements, experts/academics, Workers’ Unions and the Indonesian Employers’ Association (Apindo) on November 16 2023.

“The result is that the 2024 UMP is based on the 2023 UMP, yoy (annual) inflation from September 2023 to September 2022 is 2.49%, economic growth is 5.11%, and an alpha value of 0.30,” said Azis.

“The UMP applies to workers/laborers with less than one year of service. Workers/laborers with certain qualifications can be given wages higher than the UMP,” he concluded.
